Hayes Lowe2nd Inf Rgt MilitiaThu Feb 22 10:40:18 2001 Wow! Now that was short-term service! 2 months to the day!Odd thing is that I can't find any other possible service for this man. I guess that it is possible that he moved to another state, or died, soon thereafter.Do you show from what area Company A's members were drawn? The man that I'm looking for was from Forkland in Greene County. He was William A. McAlpine, born 1838-39 in Ala. He appears to be a first cousin to Napolean Bonoparte McAlpine (mentioned in the thread below on the 2nd Ala. Cav.) who was a Confederado. Confederados were Confederates who moved to Brazil at the end of the war, and set up the "Exiled" Confederate States of America rather than submit to the U.S. Government. And for those of you who aren't aware of it, the Confederate States of America is still alive and going strong in Brazil! Thanks Homer.2d Ala Militia Homer Jones, Thu Feb 22 11:07 2nd AL militia Bruce allardice, Thu Feb 22 11:56
