I recently asked the Ala. archives to search for the service record of Wiley T. Trammell in Co. B, 55th Ala. Inf. They called and said they couldn't find a Wiley Trammell in the 55th, she asked if he could be listed as Wm Tramel and I said I didn't think so, but I guess they could have written down Wm. for Wiley. I know that he was wounded in the hip, but I don't know how severely. She then said the only Tramel of any spelling she had listed for the 55th was "Buck" Tramel. I know that you have to have the correct name to find what you are looking for, but since he had used Wiley T. Trammell for his pension application I had assumed too much. My father didn't not know his g.grandfather's name was Wiley, the only name he knew him by was Buck. So remember when you are searching look for all verations of the given name as well as the sur name.

The below paper was sent along with the 55ths muster roll. I thought there might be others out there searching for ancestors who served in the 55th. The comments after their names are mine. pmp.
