Dear Larry,

There is a Lieutenant John S. Pierce shown as a member of Company C of the 39th Alabama Infantry.

It is not unusual for names such as Pearce to be misspelled on Muster Rolls.

Company C of the 39th Alabama was recruited in Barbour County, AL, if that gives you any clues.

In addition I will send to your email address a list of all the "J" Pierce and Pearce's in the Broadfoot Roster of Confederate Soldiers.
