26th/50th - limestone county
Sun Feb 11 21:14:55 2001

I wish someone would write a book about them. They had
a pretty good service record. When I said there isn't a source of info on them, I meant there isn't a consolidated
book or reference. In Limestone County, where 3 of the
companies that were in the 26th/50th were from, I can
walk down the street and point to different people that had
ancestors in the 26th/50th. My schoolmates, inlaws, friends, and acquaintances all seemed to have ancestors.
There just isn't anything put in one place. You can look
up old letters, diaries, and other material at the Limestone
archives and find a wealth of information about them and
their relatives. We are mostly related here in limestone county. It is just no one has ever put it in a book. There
are many good 'short stories' about every battle by different
members. Maybe I will start digging out some of the stories
and putting them on this board one by one. It might help
someone out. I don't have them in any order though.
