Robert Simsindex of Simms, Sims, SimesSun Feb 11 10:09:03 2001 Sims James M. AL Lt.Arty. 2nd Bn. Co.FSimms Jas. AL Cp. of Instr. TalladegaI cannot thank you enough. Actually, I saw a list like this on microfilm, and did not have time to copy it, so I just have quickly scribbled notes on people looking like suspects of my ancestors. The two above are interesting historically to me-I read a blurb on the instruction Unit, but was not sure what the rank designation was "Cp."-is that something unusual or was he a drill Corporal? The other entry, the man in the Artillery, was not in my other index. And, as fate would have it, the man looked for so long and found records last week was not in this list as best I can see. He was H.J. Simms(always Sims in all other records but the War) and was in Co. I 3rd AL Reserves, also in the 2nd Reserves and as you pointed out, was probably assigned to another unit. I am very familiar with the Sims families in AL before 1850 and it is surprising how many of these men I know and how many I do not. Many thanks again. Cp Jim Martin, Sun Feb 11 10:33
