Alan Pitts attended the Birmingham CWRT meeting this week where Bob Bradley the Chief Curator of the Alabama Department of Archives and History spoke. This flag was discussed at that meeting. It is a beautiful and unique version of the Confederate battleflag with no white trim on the blue St. Andrew's cross, gold stars and the gold trim. I am not a flag historian, though others who visit this site, especially Greg Biggs are recognized experts.

The story of this flag is a romantic and historic one. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the tale; however, I've not heard the particulars of the story questioned.

According to Bob Bradley and Hayes Lowe, the ultimate selling price of this flag was approximately $300,000.00, though the asking price was $175,000.00. The ADAH was unable to afford such a price for this flag, which is a shame, as I would hope all of these flags are available to view by the public.
