Killed or died?

I'm sorry; I must have missed that fact mentioned in the pension record. Usually they state about when or where the husband died in service.

If he was killed, there are a limited number of actions in which this unit was engaged, so we could speculate. If he died, it could be at home (you've ruled that out), in camp or in a hospital. I'm ruling out prisoner-of-war records because they should have been filed with his service record in the 8th Cavalry.

Hayes Lowe has recently mentioned Unfiled Papers and Slips as another place to look. He suggested that Wallace State has this microfilm, which is in simple alpha order by last name. I'd go on to say that they have a great staff, and would be wonderful people to ask the question that you posed to me about where else to look.

When was the child born? Did anyone else go off to war with him?
