Thanks for the information. J.M. Patton was a Methodist minister in Greene Co. before the war. I believe his brother, J.E. Patton, Jr. may have served in 40th AL. I thought J. M. might have been chaplain for same unit. Guess I need to spend a week in Eutaw and Livingston looking through records this summer!
