Map shows a road leading SSE from Wills Valley to Alpine, Ga. The western entry to Lookout Mountain appears to be near "Col. Winston's", so I assume this is Winston's Gap.

Note also that Macedonia Church appears halfway between Alpine and La Fayette, Ga.

You might also do well to read Peter Cozzens' book, "This Terrible Sound" on the Chickamauga Campaign. Pages 87-88 cover the approach from Winston's Gap to Alpine.
