I have two possibilities.

You mentioned Co. "F" 33rd Ala. A man named Wm. B. or Wm. S. Burch served with Co. "F" 55th Ala. A handwritten '3' could look like a '5' (or vice-versa), hence 55 ~ 33. This man was wounded and captured at Peachtree Creek (7-20-64) and died in a Federal hospital at Chattanooga, 08-17-64 after having his left arm amputated.

You also mentioned a pension application. A pension file exists for W. B. Burch of Co. "A" 33rd Alabama. However, the pension clearly shows the applicant's name to be Napoleon Bonaparte Burch. He orginally belonged to the 18th Ala. Partisan Ranger Battalion, but was reassigned to the 33rd Alabama. Burch was evidently captured at home in Jackson County on 11-01-63 and released at Camp Morton IN on May 15, 1865.

It would be important to know where this man lived in 1860. If he's from Mobile, he could be the Wm. B. Burge who served with Co. "E", 2nd Ala. Art. Battn., or the Wm. Berge who belonged to Co. "A" of that command. There's also a William Burge who belonged to Co. "I" 57th Ala. That unit came form the southeastern corner of the state. Knowing where he lived in 1860 would help a great deal.
