I guess you are aware Fry was captured and exchanged several months later, made general and had a command in Georgia. He was considered to be an experienced "gunpowder officer" by his peers. He was operating a mill in Tallassee in Tallapoosa County Alabama when the war started. He was a graduate of West Point, earlier combat veteran and actually from Virginia.

I venture to say he crossed the wall at the head of his column.
