Morehead in Troy

Bruce, Alan, Homer: I have solid circumstantial evidence that Morehead died in Troy. Just received a document from the AL State Archives that includes a 1910 reminiscence by a former private in Co. A of Love's Battalion, Monroe Bell, who says that A was formed in August-November 1863 and placed under Colonel Morehead, who reported to General Pillow in Montgomery (Alan: Wasn't Pillow head of the Conscript Bureau?). The company served on patrol duty picking up deserters for 3 months in Troy under Morehead and then 3 months in Montgomery (sent up after Morehead's death?). In any event, Morehead was definitely based in Troy in November, when he died. I've contacted the genealogical dept. of the Troy Public Library to see if they have any local documents verifying Morehead's death. There was a newspaper in Troy, the Southern Advertiser, though I don't know if it was published then. I should know by Tuesday.
