You are correct, sir. The 13th Partisan Ranger Battalion organized in Sept. 1862 and eventually numbered six companies. It was also called Hewlett's Battalion. It merged with the 15th P. R. Battalion to form the 56th Ala. in the summer of 1863. I published an article on this command about twenty years ago.

Don't have anything else on Lowe's command except as previously noted. Interesting that a Federal source in the O.R. attempted to list Lowe's companies.
