An excellent reference is the Miscellaneous Papers of the Virginia Historical Society, which lists officers confined at Johnson's Island, including their regiment and place of residence (the data is not error-free, however). A quick look revealed some examples: Lt. G.W. Bunn of Frankford, AL in 1st Miss., captured (c.) at Port Hudson; Lt. J.L. Barker of DeSoto, AL in 4th Miss., c. at Big Black; Lt. J.B. Cleveland of Mobile in 1st La. Battal., c. at Vicksburg; Lt. A.W. Harmon of Daydesville, AL in 1st Florida, c. at Port Hudson; and etc. Tom
