Jim -- You might note my other post on this subject. The unit was always known by its captain's name, first Felix H. Robertson and later Stouten H. Dent. Dent led the battery for the greater part of the war. The Dent Papers are on file at Auburn University. Evidently family members read his accounts of Shiloh, Chickamauga, Misionary Ridge and others, for those letters are missing. However, a Eufaula newspaper printed the one on Shiloh about 1910, so we have that account. His letters provide an interesting account of an artilleryman's career in the Army of Tennessee.
