Looking for T. M. BURKS who supposedly enlisted on 3 May 1862 at Rockford, AL, in Co B. of either the 1st or 3rd Battalion of Hillard's Legion. In November 1863, he was transferred to the 60th AL. Burks was apparently a POW when Lee surrendered at Appomattox. He was, supposedly, on one of the company muster rolls in Jan and Feb of 1865. His date of birth was 1 Jan 1838, and he died 23 Nov 1896.

I find a Jeremiah Burks and a John N. Burkes in Hilliard's, and a J. M. Burks in the 60th. Could this latter "J. M." be a mistranscription for "T. M."?
