This may well be a reference to the 4th Alabama Reserves, commanded by Col. William M. Stone. These were senior reserves, men forty-five and older, organized about Oct. 1, 1864 at Mobile. Five companies had previously organized as the 1st Ala. Reserve Battalion. Capt. J. J. Snowden's Co. "F" came from Monroe and Wilcox County. It had been part of Stone's 1st Reserve Battn.
