Henry Seale42ND Alabama Infantry Regt.Mon Jan 8 08:50:59 2001 If my information is correct, the 42ND Alabama Infantry Regt. was organized at Columbus, Mississippi in the spring of 1862 and was composed of many men whose one year enlistments were up and were reenlisted and also of new men most from Alabama, but a number from Mississippi. I have no hard evidence of this, this is just my "off of the top of my head understanding". I had a kinsman, Pvt. Calvin Henderson of this regiment, but I confess that I know little about their record. This regiment did fight at Vicksburg,Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge,Atlanta Campaign, and at Bentonville.
