Phil Law
Gen. Law

For information on Evander McIver Law you may want to purchase "Law's Alabama Brigade" and "Struggle for Little Round Top-Law's Alabama Brigade". These two books are available on-line through Barnes & Noble (bn.com)at the best prices I've seen. According to these books, BG Law was elected Colonel of the 4th AL Infantry upon the Tuskeegee Zouaves absorbtion into that unit. Have not seen any information on him ever being a Major. His younger brother Junius Augustus Law was a Capt. of an AL Infantry unit, 1st Btn. Alabama Artillery, and captured at the Battle at Fort Blakely 4/1865 where he was a Colonel in a CSA Cavalry unit. He may have been a major at one time.

Gen. Law moved to Bartow, FL after the War where he served as a newspaper editor and is credited with helping found the Florida State Bd. of Education. He died in 1920, and is buried in Bartow. He has numerous writings and served actively in the United Confederate Veterans (which later became the Sons of Confedrate Veterans). The local SCV Camp in Bartow is named in honor of BG E.M. Law. Any information you may have on him would be greatly appreciated and I would like to see the picture of him prior to the War. Phil
