I have James M. Hawk listed as a Private in Co. G. Hillabee Blues, 14th Alabama Volunteers. This company was from northeastern Tallapoosa County. He was wounded at Gaines Mill, Va. June 27, 1862 and Salem Church, Va. May 3, 1863. He was detailed as a teamster for Anderson's Division (to which the 14th Ala belonged). He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, April 9, 1865.
