There were two companies in the regiment which used that designation. One was the "Autauga Rifles", which was Co. "M" until April 28, 1862, and Co. "G" afterwards. The other was the "Hayneville Guard", which had been Co "E" up until that date. Do you know if your ancestor was from Lowndes or Autauga County?
