AKA 25th MS Inf. Regt. & designated 2nd CSA Inf. Regt. by the War Dept., it was broken up on May 8, 1862.

Miller's 1st MS Cav. Battn. was assigned to Cheatham, Logwood's 6th TN Cav. Battn. to Pillow, both at Columbus but operating independently of one another. Biffle led a company in the 1st TN Cav. Battn., AKA Jones' or Cox's Battn., assigned to Buckner at Bowling Green. Biffle later was colonel of the 19th (9th) TN Cav. Regt. & led this unit during Forrest's West Tennessee raid; N. N. Cox led another battalion known by his name in the same raid.

Charles Wickliffe was colonel of the 7th Kentucky, mortally wounded at Shiloh on the afternoon of April 7th. He was probably the officer mentioned in Bowen correspondence. I'm at work now and have to guess that the OR volume you need for Shiloh is XI part 1.

Brewer's Cav. Battn. info at home; will reply later.
