They were:(1)Pvt.George Dearman-survived the war and surrendered with Co.C 19TH Ala.Inf.Regt.(Note:the 40TH was consolidated into the 19TH on 09 April 1865 after the Battle of Bentonville, N.C. and before the surrender of Gen. Jos. Johnston on 26 April 1865), (2)Pvt. James M. Dearman-no information available at this time, and (3)Pvt. Napoleon B. Dearman-killed at Vicksburg,Mississippi.
