My ancestor William Lunsford Lee & brothers George Washington Lee & Andrew Jackson Lee fought in the war from Covington Co. I am anxious to find some foundation for believing or not believing a family story that one of them came home wounded and Yankee cavalry rode up to the house searching for any Confederates. My grandmother's grandmother supposedly (safely) hid him in an outdoor brick oven. Does anyone know of Yankee cavalry in Covington Co? Thank you (And does anyone know where I can find where Covington and Conecuh and Butler (all three meet at my ancestors' homes) units fought?
